Language for Specific Purposes Courses

Grants to develop new LSP courses reverse designed from assessments that are the result of an OLA-led domain analysis research project.

  • Instructors must submit a detailed proposal, based on the domain analysis research project and resulting proficiency assessment, outlining how the designed course will achieve those outcomes.
  • An assessment for a course must be in place before the application for a Curriculum Design Grant can be submitted.
  • These awards will be granted for work during the Summer for courses that will be offered in a subsequent academic year.
  • Participants will receive up to $2000.00 upon completion of course design.

To apply:

Prerequisites: Completion of a proficiency assessment, and the Test Design & Development Workshop
Applicants submit an application form on our LPII Canvas site. All curricular revisions must adhere to reverse design models: outcomes must be identified and defined, both formative and summative assessments must be in place. Participants may also wish to design new formative assessments as part of their grant. The application form must be signed by the language coordinator (where applicable) and department chair.

Participants are required to attend the Curriculum Design Workshop, which will take over a series of four Friday afternoons in 2024 (4-8pm on April 19, April 26, May 10, and May 17). Participants who have already attended the Curriculum Design Workshop may attend individual days of the workshop if they so choose. NOTE: The workshop has been significantly redesigned, and participants who participated previously may find one or more days of the series useful.

Applications for Summer 2024 are available on Canvas and are due April 1, 2024.
