The Academic English Proficiency Assessment — AEPA™ provides English language proficiency assessment for individuals who use English as an additional language in a variety of academic contexts. The AEPA is administered to prospective applicants to the professional schools and graduate divisions of the University of Chicago, and to postdoctoral researchers, visiting scholars, or other professionals at UChicago, in order to demonstrate the English language skills required. Assessment in two modalities is currently available – AEPA Oral Proficiency and AEPA Writing – both measuring functional language use with performance-based, real world test tasks.
